The first family to live here lost their farm in southern Minnesota during the Depression. The dad asked his five year old son where he wanted to live and the son replied that he wanted to live where Paul Bunyan lived, so they came to Star Lake.

We do truly live in the land of Paul Bunyan. Pine Terrace Resort is located just off County Road 16, which is a central part of Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway. One of America's Byways newest scenic byways, and the only one in the nation focused on the truth and lore of Paul Bunyan.
